The Best Long Weekend in Seville

Seville holds a special place in my heart, I visited back in 2011 with some college girlfriends and loved everything about the traditional Spanish style that it exudes. I could not wait to take Chris back there with me! We were contemplating going in the spring during Semana Santa (as there is an incredible festival there for Easter), but the cool fall weather was beckoning us as Seville heats up quickly come the warmer months (last time I was there it was 98 degrees F)

Unlike Barcelona, Seville is saturated with all things traditional Spanish. We thoroughly enjoyed trying out various tapas restaurants and sipping on a variety of local wines. We learned about the traditional sport of bullfighting, stood in awe of Spanish inspired architecture, and spent an evening mesmerized by the passion and intensity of the traditional dance of Flamenco.

Look up. This struck me this trip more than others. Look up, to see what you are missing, to realize that you are small, to give you reverence for things greater than yourself. Especially in the Seville Cathedral, when you look up in this cathedral you remember your place in the world.  An extravagantly decorated space, in honor of the Lord God…maker of heaven and earth, who deserves extravagant love and praise…I was reminded this time in Seville to look up and stand in awe.
